Guilty or Innocent

Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Proverbs 24:23 which says:

“Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,”
will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations.”

This is more from Solomon’s wise sayings; and it seems inevitable that whoever judges wrongly would be denounced and shunned. This is because a judge decides the fate of someone; possibly even for life, and it is definitely not a laughing matter. But God’s own son, who loves us very much, came down and said that we were innocent. He made us innocent by taking on our sin. He was cursed by God, and the people hated Him, and killed Him.

Jesus Himself was wrongly judged; however this was something that God intended to happen. Jesus, who was innocent and who never sinned, took our sins upon Himself and was killed upon a cross as though He was the worst of sinners. And the reason that He did this, was to save us; He died for us so that we could live.

Now we can say to the guilty, you can be innocent. You can be innocent because of Jesus. Jesus has taken all the sin of the world, so that we may be innocent. He made us Children of God, and freed us from our sin. Praise the Lord!

The Innocent for Silver

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Amos 2:6 which says:

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Israel,
even for four, I will not relent.
They sell the innocent for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals.”

Amos tells us that Israel had turned away from God and had started doing the things that the nations around them did. They sold the innocent for silver and the needy for a pair of shoes. Even though the Lord had done so many things for them, they still turned away from the Lord. They had not repented and they rejected the Lord.

The Jews actually bought an innocent man (God-man) in order to kill Him. This God-man that they killed is Jesus, the son of God. Why was Jesus on earth? To be our sacrifice! We were sinners who were going to die because of our sins, we needed a perfect sacrifice and Jesus loved us so much that He came to be our sacrifice. He died on the cross as our sacrifice and now He is our living hope because He rose from the grave on the third day. We are saved from our sins because Jesus died for us, that is how much He loved us!

If you have not accepted Jesus’ sacrifice then why don’t you? He came down from heaven and died on the cross for us so that we could live. Why don’t you accept His sacrifice and be saved, He died for your sins so that you would live. It is amazing that the son of God (and God Himself) would love us so much that He sacrificed His love for us!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not die but have eternal life.” (NIV John 3:16)

Jesus was sold to the Pharisees and He died for us on the cross. Then He rose from the grave on the third day. Praise the Lord that we are saved from our sins. Thank You Jesus for dying for us on the cross so that we could live. Thank You Jesus that we can have eternal life because You died for us. Thank You for dying for us even though You are perfect and innocent. Praise the Lord that we have been given Jesus’ perfection and that we do not have to die with our sins on us.

Innocent blood

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Jeremiah 19:4 which says, “For they have forsaken me and made this a place for foreign gods; they have burned sacrifices in it to gods that neither they nor their father nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.”

Wow, the Israelites really had forsaken God. They were worshiping idols, and shedding innocent blood! When they were trusting in God everything was much less… sinful. But when they strayed away from God they killed innocent people. Sin does this to you, you may say that you haven’t murdered anyone, but have you ever hated anyone? Because Jesus says that hating is the same as murder.

Well anyway this verse is pointing forward to Jesus, Jesus hadn’t done anything wrong in His life. He came down from Heaven to be born of a virgin and He lived a perfect life, He didn’t even do anything wrong as a baby or even a toddler. Anyway He lived a perfect life and even though He was innocent, Pilate even said that, because the Pharisees were jealous they killed Jesus. Pilate was more afraid of man than He was of God (that was part of God’s master plan) and so Jesus was crucified and He was buried. But on the third day He rose again! And after appearing to thousands of people, He ascended into Heaven.

Jesus died for our sins on the cross! He was our atoning sacrifice, we don’t need to offer sacrifices anymore because Jesus was and is the one and only sacrifice that atoned for our sins. The Israelites had to offer animals that really didn’t atone for their sins, but because Jesus was and is perfect He atoned perfectly for the sacrifices of every person that has ever lived, thank you Jesus.

But even though Jesus forgave us of our sins, we can’t just keep on sinning, ”

Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? (ESV Romans 5:22-23 & Romans 6:1-3)

Are you trusting in Jesus as your atoning sacrifice?
