Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Proverbs 18:5 and 10 which say:
“It is not good to be partial to the wicked
and so deprive the innocent of justice.”
“10 The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.”
Verse 5 says that it is not good to be partial to wicked. In other words, It’s not good to favor sin, or those who are innocent will be deprived of justice. Being partial to wicked is like having a judge and takes all the evidence and ignores it.
God is just. He rules justly, He punishes sin and rewards righteousness. Since God punishes sin, and the punishment for sin is death, we should die. After all, we sin. Everybody sins. But instead of “starting over” God saved us from our punishment. God sent His son to take the punishment in our place. He sent Jesus to die for us. God administered justice against sin because His son took all our sin.
Because of what Jesus has done for us, we should spread that Good News. Jesus has taken the sins of everybody away. All we have to do is believe in Him, and what He has done. We should tell others about what He has done for them and for us on the cross.
Verse 10 tells us that the Lord’s name is a fortified tower; and that if the righteous run to it they are safe. Now, in your lifetime you may have noticed that you aren’t righteous; so does this mean that the Lord’s name is not a safe haven for anyone on this earth? No it doesn’t, because God has provided a way that we might be saved from our sin and unrighteousness.
God has provided His son, Jesus, to save us from our unrighteousness. He sent His son as a holy and perfect sacrifice so that we might inherit His righteousness and become the children of God. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice we do have a safe haven; we can run to Jesus because His name is a fortified tower for us! Because He has made us righteous, now we can be safe in Him.
We were separated from God until Jesus came and gave us communion with Him. Now we can run to God and be safe; we can run to Him no matter what.
