Humility

Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Psalm 149:4 which says:

“For the Lord takes delight in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.”

David is telling the people to sing praise to God. He is saying to praise God. Here, he gives the reason why: because God delights in His people, and because He crowns the humble with victory.

This is a wonderful reason to praise God. He is good, so we should praise Him. But, there is still an even better reason. Jesus. God gave His son to die in our place with our sin. He loves us so much! Now we are His people, and He takes delight in us.

It also says He crowns the humble with victory. So, this has a practical application as well: we should be humble. Of course we shouldn’t be humble just because we will be victorious, but clearly God rewards those who follow His ways. However, you should be cautious when striving to please God because if you start trying to obey His every word for fear that He will only accept you if you are perfect, then you’ve strayed away from the cross! Even if we stumble a little (or a lot), God will accept us because of Jesus!

The bottom line is: Jesus died for us! So now we don’t have to work for our salvation!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland and,
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
