Hello! Today I’m posting on Malachi 3:17 which says:
“17 “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him.”
At this time the Lord was talking about the remnant of people who feared the Lord. But this also has meaning for us because we were not going to be spared. We were going to die because of our sins; we were going to be destroyed because of our wrong-doings! We would not have compassion on us; we would not be spared as a son of God.
This is the fate that would be-fall us, that is if God hadn’t loved us and had mercy on us. God loves us, and He loved us so much that He actually gave up His one and only son as an atoning sacrifice. God required death in order to atone for our sins, and He needed the death of a perfect sacrifice. Because there was no perfect sacrifice here on earth, God gave us His own son. Jesus came down from heaven to atone for our sins!
Jesus gave us His righteousness in exchange for our sins, and He gave us the rights to be the children of God. Because Jesus gave that to us we are saved, and God has compassion on us just like He would spare His own son. Because of Jesus’ love for us we are now righteous in God’s sight, and we are saved from God’s wrath!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
