Hello! Today’s post is in Malachi 3:1 which says:
“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.”
I’m not as sure of what this meant to them as a people, but I do know what it points forward to! This is pointing forward to a messenger who would come before God. Then the Lord would come to His temple, and the time of seeking Him would be over.
When did God come down to the people, and who was the messenger who went before Him? This messenger was John the Baptist, and He was preparing the way for Jesus who came down from heaven:
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”(John 1:29)
John proclaimed that Jesus was the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world. And what John said was true; Jesus is the Lamb of God, and Jesus did come to take away the sins of the world! How? Jesus came down from heaven to take on the sins of the world and to bear them on a cross. He did this so that we would not have to have God’s wrath on us; He did this because He loves us!
Jesus came down to atone for our sins, that is cause for rejoicing!
