Unjustly Saved

Hello, today my sister and I are doing our post together on Zechariah 1:6 which says:

“But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your ancestors? “Then they repented and said, ‘The Lord Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do.’”

In this passage, the Lord is saying that if the people return to Him, He will return to them. So, they repent of their evil ways and say that God is doing to them what they deserve. If they had not repented, then God would have punished them; this is true for all sin.

However, we have been saved from the punishment of sin. Instead of receiving what we deserved, which was the wrath of God, we have been saved from our punishment! We have been saved from God’s wrath because of God’s love for us; we were saved because God loved us and sent His one and only son to take away all of His wrath! Instead of receiving our just punishment, we received the unjust righteousness of Jesus!

We have been saved because Jesus bore our sins and God’s wrath on the cross; we have been saved because He gave us His righteousness! God did not treat us justly! He gave our punishment to Christ, and Christ gave His righteousness to us.

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland and,
Peace and love, Joy Cleveland
