The pastor preached on Luke 11:5-13. My sister and I are going to give the basic summary of where we saw the Gospel (although we agreed with what he said, it would be hard to give a complete summary of the sermon).
The Pastor mostly preached on prayer (because that is what the passage talks about), but he also got the Gospel in it! He was talking about prayer when he said that there was no way we could talk to the Father before Jesus came and gave His life for us. Because when Jesus gave His life for us He also tore the curtain separating the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place! Which means that now anyone can talk to God; all because of Jesus’ death on the Cross.
He also said that God gives us the Holy Spirit. In Luke 11:13 Jesus says to the Pharisees:
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
So now, because of Jesus, we have the Holy Spirit in us. Because of Jesus, we can ask the Father for the Holy Spirit, and He will give Him (the Holy Spirit) to us!
