God’s word for me today is in Zechariah 9:8 which says:
“8 But I will encamp at my temple
to guard it against marauding forces.
Never again will an oppressor overrun my people,
for now I am keeping watch.”
God is encamping at His temple to keep watch so that His people will never be overrun again. God was going to protect and keep watch over His people, but doesn’t God always see everything? Here God is saying that He would not destroy His people or let anything destroy them.
We have the same promise. Why would us, sinners, have a promise to be saved? Because God sent a perfect sacrifice to die for us. That sacrifice was God’s son (and God Himself) Jesus! God sent His one and only son to be our sacrifice! We are saved, we are God’s people, and He is protecting us.
That doesn’t mean that we will never have anything bad happen to us. Tons of martyrs have died because they were Christians. Many countries don’t allow people to be Christians, and they have to go to underground churches. Clearly bad things do happen to Christians, many of them because we are Christians. But we have Christ, and that is the best thing to have. No persecution can take away the joy we have in Jesus!
Praise the Lord that Jesus died to save us from our sins! We are safe in Jesus!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
