God’s word for me today is in Zechariah 7:13 which says:
“13 “‘When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’ says the Lord Almighty.”
If the Lord wasn’t listening to the Israelites because they didn’t listen to Him, then why does God listen to us? It’s not because we suddenly started listening and obeying Him perfectly, that’s for sure. So why does God listen to us?
God listens to us because we are saved. That is, if you trust in Jesus then you are saved and God listens to you. God sent His one and only son down from heaven to take our sins on Him and die for us on the cross so that we could live. Jesus loved us so much that He atoned for us so that we could have the right to become God’s children!
God listens to us because in Jesus we are righteous and holy! The Israelites didn’t listen to God so God didn’t listen to them; it’s the whole an eye for an eye concept. But now God listens to us and He saved us even though we didn’t listen to Him, and we were His enemies. It is amazing that God would love us so much that He atoned for us on the cross!
So, let’s share the good news of the Gospel! Let’s tell it to unbelievers (and believers too, we need to be encouraged and reminded of the Gospel!) so that they can trust in Jesus and be saved from their sins!
Praise and thank Jesus for dying for us!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
