The Sermon: Savior, Messiah, and Lord

Hello again everyone! Today the pastor preached the Gospel, again! We went back to the church we visited last week and he preached the Gospel! I’m focusing on 3 points (I don’t know if he called them points) that he made through his sermon, which were:

1. Savior

2. Christ (which means Messiah)

3. Lord

These three “points” were in answer to the question “Who?” The Bible gives us three names for Jesus, three things that Jesus was or would be. In Luke 2:11 the Bible says:

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” (NIV) Luke 2:11

The first thing that the Bible calls Jesus is a Savior. Jesus is our savior, He came to save the world from our sins. How would Jesus save the word from all of our sins? By taking our sins on Him and dying for us on the cross! Jesus took away our sins and gave us His righteousness so that we could be saved from God’s wrath!

The second thing that the Bible calls Jesus is Messiah. Jesus is our Messiah, the one that had been prophesied to come and save the world. Many Old Testament prophets prophesied about the Messiah coming. The Jews were looking for the Messiah, they just didn’t look in the right place.

The third thing that the Bible calls Jesus is Lord. Jesus is Lord, He is not only God’s son, He is God Himself. Jesus is our Lord and yet He still came down from heaven to die for us on the cross. Jesus humbled Himself down to a place on the cross. Now Jesus is the Lord that we worship and love.

I am very happy to have heard another Gospel sermon today; Lord-willingly this will be the church that God has for us!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
