Dirty Clothes Go in the Laundry Bin!

God’s word for me today is in Zechariah 3:3-4 which says:

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”

Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.”

Wow! God actually forgave Joshua of his dirty clothes! Man, I wish every mom would do that! Alright, I’m pretty sure you understand that God actually forgave Joshua of his sins, not his dirty clothes. But it does seem amazing that God, who we have seen to be a very just God, would forgive Joshua of his sins. It seems amazing that God would not only forgive Joshua of his sins but also clothe him in fine garments which would be Righteousness (if dirty clothes are sin, then I think fine garments are Righteousness).

But it is even more amazing that God would offer that same amazing opportunity to every person in the whole entire world! You see, God sent His one and only son down to earth to die for sinners so that we could be saved! If you trust in Jesus then you will receive His “Red Robes of Righteousness”! So we are just like Joshua, we are forgiven of our sins!

We should also be like the angel. Obviously we can’t become an angel, but what I mean is we should spread the news that Jesus died for others. The angel said “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fin garments on you.” We should say to others, “See, God has taken away your sins, and if you trust in Him then He will put fine garments on you.” We should spread the Gospel!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
