All of the Nations

Hello again everyone! First of all I would like to apologize that I haven’t posted for the last few days. The reason is that we just went on a skiing trip; we left Monday and came back on Friday. I’m sure you can understand that, because I didn’t take my computer and I was tired, I didn’t post for the last few days.

So without further ado, I will continue my regular post. God’s word for me today is in Zechariah 2:11 which says:

11 “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.”

Wait a second, I thought that God had specifically chosen Israel and Judah! So why is He now saying that “many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day”? Not to mention that in the next verse He says “The Lord will inherit Judah as His portion” and “(The Lord) will again choose Jerusalem”! So how on earth are all of the nations going to “join with the Lord” and then suddenly become Judah and Israel?

Answer: through a sacrifice that was so loving, huge, and amazing that all people of every race can be saved! “Saved from what?” You ask, saved from their sins! You see, all people are sinners and deserve to go to hell. All people deserve to burn in their sins. In fact, we needed a perfect sacrifice to die for us if we were ever to be saved! But God loved us so much that He sent His one and only son to die for us so that we could become His sons and daughters! God sent His son to be our atoning sacrifice so that we could live and “join with Him” or trust in Him!

Jesus came down from heaven and was born of a virgin so that He could live a perfect life and die for our sins on a cross! Some pastors make a big point of Christmas when we are near the 25th of December, they say that the day Jesus was born was an amazing day. One pastor said that it was the most powerful day in history! But really, the only reason Jesus was born was so that He could die for us to live. It might sound depressing when you hear “Jesus was born so that He could die” but really that was why He came down. The most powerful day in history was when Jesus died not when Jesus was born.

Now all who believe in Jesus are the spiritual Judah! We are the spiritual remnant of Judah, we are the chosen “nation” of God! We are Judah because we trust in Jesus and we are God’s children!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
