Hello again! Today the pastor sort of preached the Gospel, only it was watered down by his attempted jokes. I don’t know what we’re going to do next week; however, I am going to show the Gospel in the passage he preached. The passage was Acts 15 talking about how the Pharisees had come in and started telling believers that in order to be saved you must be circumcised according to the Law of Moses.
In the book of Jude, Jude tells us that he wanted to write specifically on how we are saved through the Gospel but really he had to address the teaching that false teachers were giving to them. This false teaching was that you had to be circumcised to be saved, which isn’t true. Why isn’t it true? Well we are saved only through 1 means and that is Jesus. Jesus died for our sins, He took the punishment in our place and so we can live by accepting Him as our savior. Jesus didn’t then say that we had to be circumcised in order to be saved, we have been circumcised in the heart. Our spiritual hearts have been circumcised and cleaned and now we are saved.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re circumcised or not, as long as you have trusted in Jesus who died in your place then you are saved. In Acts 15 Peter says that there was no discrimination against the Gentiles when it comes to being saved (there were believers who were saying that the Gentiles needed to be circumcised and obey the law in order to be saved), Peter knew that because the Lord had told him to go baptize Gentiles before.
So we are saved only by trusting in Jesus as our savior! Praise the Lord!
Please continue to pray for us that we can find a church that preaches the Gospel! Thank you!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
