The 5 Points

Today the pastor didn’t really preach the Gospel, so I’m going to use the same 5 points just with the Gospel drawn from them.

1. Love

Well there are a lot of passages in the Bible about love, one of them is 1 John 4:9-11 which says:

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

The perfect example of love is Jesus! Love is that God loved us so much that He sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins! We know what love is because God showed love to us by sending His son as an atoning sacrifice.

2. Hope

1 passage that talks about how we have hope in Jesus is Ephesians 1:12 which says:

11 In him we were also chosen,[a] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.”

We have put our hope in Christ who is an everlasting hope. We have hope of eternal life with Him in heaven! We have a living hope because after Jesus died for our sins on the cross, He rose again on the third day! We have a living hope in Jesus.

3. Joy or Thanksgiving

As Christians we should have immeasurable joy because Jesus died for us! 1 Peter 1:8:

8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.”

We have inexpressible and glorious joy because we believe in Jesus as our savior! We should have joy because we are saved from our sins. We should have joy because we can share that good news with unbelievers!

4. Respect

Well the Bible mainly talks about respect when it tells children to obey their parents and things like that. But Jesus respected and obeyed His Father, and because of that plus the fact that He loves us, He died for us on the cross.

4. Truth

John 14:6 says:

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Jesus is the Way the Truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him, we can’t become saved except by trusting in Jesus! Jesus died for us, He was and is perfect (He didn’t even tell 1 lie or else we couldn’t have been saved) so now we can live because He died for us!

I hope you enjoyed the Gospel from those 5 points.

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
