God’s word for me today is in Zephaniah 1:2 which says:
“2 “I will sweep away everything
from the face of the earth,”
declares the Lord.”
Doesn’t this seem a little bit big? I mean we only sinned since the day we were born. Why would God need to sweep away everything from the face of the earth? Answer: God hates sin! We were sinners and God hates sin, so He would want to wipe away everything from the earth He made. But He was also merciful to us, He could have just wiped everything from the earth and let us perish but He didn’t. Yes He is going to destroy the earth, but He loved us so much that He sent a sacrifice to atone for our sins.
God sent Jesus down from heaven to die for us on a cross so that we could live! Jesus came down to die on a cross and rise again on the third day! He loved us so much that He was our sacrifice, He loved us so much that He atoned for our sins! Now if we trust in Jesus our sins have been removed from us and we have been clothed in the perfection of Jesus!
How amazing and awesome! How indescribable and joyous, loving and wonderful, how unbelievable and gracious! How merciful that the son of God would come down from heaven and die for humans that have sinned against God! Jesus rescued us from our sins, it should make us praise God for being so loving that He would send His son to die for us! If you have not trusted in Jesus who die for our sins on the cross, then why don’t you receive Him and be saved from your sins? Jesus died so that we could live, we are saved!
If the fact that God was going to destroy everything from the earth was “a little big” then what is sending His son to die for us so that we could be saved from His wrath? Unbelievably, uncomprehendingly amazing and loving! Thank You Jesus! What should our response be? Two things:
1. Praise the Lord for all that He has done for us!
2. Share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they can live!
Praise the Lord that we are saved from our sins! Share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they can be saved from their sins!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
