Be Astounded

God’s word for me today is in Habakkuk 1:5 which says:

“Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.”

We were surprised and amazed too. How were we surprised and amazed? Well, in a different way then what Habakkuk means. Habakkuk goes on to say that the Babylonians (the ruthless and impetuous people) were going to be raised up! Of course It is not for always, but in this passage the Babylonians were going to be raised up. That might have surprised the Israelites who, at the time, were God’s people.

So how were we surprised and amazed? Well we were sinners, every human is a sinner (aside from Jesus who was fully man and fully God) and we were going to die with God’s wrath on us because of it. But we were saved! That isn’t even the surprise, the amazing thing is that God’s son (and God Himself) died for us on the cross! Jesus came down from heaven, took our sins on Him, and died for us sinners on a cross! Jesus actually died for us on a cross!

That is truly amazing, we were sinners who were going to die with our sins on us, but Jesus died for us on a cross and then rose from the grave on the 3rd day. If you have not trusted in Jesus as your savior then why don’t you do it now? Why don’t you pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you from your sins? If you repent of your sins and trust in Him then you will be saved and you will live! Jesus loved you so much that He died on a cross to save you!

Praise the Lord that we are saved from our sins! We should be amazed that Jesus died for us because we were sinners and He is God’s son, why would He die for us? Because He loves us, we live because Jesus loved us so much that He died for us! Praise God because we live and we are not dead in our sins any longer! Praise the Lord!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
