God’s word for me today is in Nahum 2:3 which says:
“3 The shields of the soldiers are red;
the warriors are clad in scarlet.
The metal on the chariots flashes
on the day they are made ready;
the spears of juniper are brandished”
This passage is talking about the destruction of Ninevah. Ninevah was a sinful city, that is why God sent Jonah to tell them that the Lord would destroy them because of their sins. Because of that the people of Ninevah fasted and repented, so the Lord spared them. Anyway this passage is talking about how Ninevah was going to fall. The Lord was going to restore the splendor of Israel and the shields of the warriors were red. The soldiers were clad in scarlet.
Christians have “red shields” and Christians are “clad in scarlet”. Obviously not physically, but spiritually. We were going to die from our sins, every unbeliever still has their sins on them. But as Christians we have been saved! How? Because Jesus (God’s son, and God Himself) came down from heaven, took our sins on Him, and died for us! Jesus loved us so much that He died for us on a cross! Jesus blood is covering us, now when God looks at us, He see’s Jesus’ sacrifice and how He atoned for our sins!
Back to my statement about how Christians are spiritually clad in scarlet and how we have red shields. Because we have flesh we are still battling sin and the devil, but with God’s help! Now we are clad in the scarlet blood of Jesus, we have the red shields that Jesus has given us! Whenever the devil shoots the arrows of guilt at us, we can hold up the shield that is covered in Jesus’ blood and forgiveness! Now we have a battle that we can never lose as true Christians, when we die we will end our battle and be in heaven to stay eternally with our Lord and savior Jesus!
Let’s spread the news of Jesus’ sacrifice! That is something to share, it is a life changing and life saving news! We should spread the Gospel, not a lie that Jesus isn’t God! Jesus is God, and He died for us so that we could live! We should share that with unbelievers so that they too can be clad in scarlet, so that they can have red shields because of Jesus!
Nahum 2:3 is also like Proverbs 31:21 which says:
“21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.”
Pastors should preach the Gospel to their congregation so that they can be clad in scarlet. But women can also give the Gospel to people. Specifically their children if they have children. We should clothe our children in scarlet so that they can live and be saved! Even little children can understand that God loved them, just like mommy but even more than mommy, and that He died for them so that they could live!
Jesus died for us so that we could live and be saved from our sins!
