Empty

God’s word for me today is in Micah 6:14 which says:

14 You will eat but not be satisfied;
your stomach will still be empty.[a]
You will store up but save nothing,
because what you save[b] I will give to the sword.”

The Israelites were trying to “eat” of other things. They were trying to satisfy themselves with other gods and other things. They turned away from God and were turning to other worthless gods. But they were empty, they could not satisfy themselves with anything other than God. Nothing other than the Lord could ever satisfy anyone.

We were not satisfied either, we couldn’t be because we were separated from God. We were separated from God because of our sins. We might have tried everything the world had to offer but it could never fill us up permanently. But we can be filled up, we can be satisfied! How? We were sinners, that is why we were separated from God. But God’s son came down from heaven, took our sins on Him, and died for us on a cross because He loves us so much! Now we can be filled up if we trust in Jesus! He broke the separation that we had from God, at the cross!

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”” (NIV John 4:13-15)

The woman at the well wanted the water that Jesus could give her so that she would never thirst again. Now if we trust in Jesus we will never thirst, we will always be satisfied in Jesus! He died for us on the cross, if we trust in Him then we will be fully satisfied. If you have not trusted then why don’t you trust in Him now? If you trust in Jesus then when you die you will go to heaven and be with Him eternally! Jesus fills us up completely!

It is because of what Jesus did that we are saved and filled up. It is because of Jesus that we can live and not be separated from God, thank You Jesus!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
