Peace?

God’s word for me today is in Micah 3:5 which says:

This is what the Lord says:

“As for the prophets
    who lead my people astray,
they proclaim ‘peace’
if they have something to eat,
but prepare to wage war against anyone
    who refuses to feed them.”

The false prophets only prophesied for a profit, they would prophesy “peace” to those who would feed them but they would prepare to wage war on anyone who refused to feed them. But Micah had the word of the Lord, he wasn’t prophesying for money or food. But the only prophet who wasn’t prophesying for money or food (aka Micah) was the prophet that nobody listened to. Micah was prophesying destruction, so the people ignored him and listened to those who prophesied peace.

As a sinner there is no peace in your life. You might try as hard as you can to be good, but you always sin. Others may tell you that it’s going to be okay, they may say that “your only human” and they can point you to all the good things you’ve done. But that is not good enough, you might look for a better explanation, you might search for something to satisfy you. But nothing on earth will. What if I told you that you can be free from your sins? That you can be holy? You might ask “how is that possible, I’ve tried everything!” The way to be free from your sins is by trusting in Jesus!

Jesus is the son of God and He loved us so much that He descended from heaven, took our sins upon Himself, and died like a criminal on a cross. His love was so deep for us that He sacrificed His life for us, so that we could live and be saved from our sins. Does it sound terrible to you that our savior has died? Here is some good news, He rose out of the grave on the third day! He came back to life and ascended into heaven. Now when we die we will meet Him there in heaven to worship Him. Jesus died for us, He gave us His robes of righteousness, He took our sins on Him! Now we are pure and holy in God’s sight.

Let us worship our savior who has died for us! It is because of Him that we are saved from our sins. It is because of His sacrifice that we have been freed from the chains of our sin! Praise the Lord, thank You Jesus!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
