God’s word for me today is in Micah 2:3 which says:
“3 Therefore, the Lord says:
“I am planning disaster against this people,
from which you cannot save yourselves.
You will no longer walk proudly,
for it will be a time of calamity.”
Because of the Israelite’s sin, the Lord was going to destroy them. In the verse above the Lord says that He was planning disaster against the people, such a disaster that they could not save themselves. Then they would not walk proudly because it would be a time of calamity. How could they be proud while a disaster was crashing all around them?
Well, same here, we were going to die too. Because of our sins we were going to be destroyed by a calamity that we could not stop. Gentiles didn’t even have the word of God, so how would we even know how to gain God’s favor? Death and destruction awaited us, however something absolutely amazing happened. The son of God died in our place on a cross! The son of God loved us so much that He would come down from heaven, take our sins on Himself and die in our place at the cross! Jesus took the sins of the whole world on Him at the cross!
“2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (NIV 1 John 2:2)
We couldn’t save ourselves but Jesus did! If you have not trusted in Jesus as your savior then why don’t you do it now? Why don’t you repent of your sins and trust in Jesus? Jesus loved us enough to die for us, if you are an unbeliever than why don’t you believe in Jesus as your savior and Lord? He died for your sins on the cross! Why don’t you trust in Him?
Sometimes we need a calamity in our lives to humble us. Sometimes the Lord will send storms our way so that we will stop being prideful and give the glory to God. Maybe you have become prideful about how well your ministry is going. No matter how we become prideful, the Lord might send a storm so that we can become humble. We should pray to the Lord and ask Him to help us be humble.
Thank You Jesus for being our savior! Because Jesus died for us we are saved from our sins, we couldn’t have saved ourselves but Jesus did at the cross!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
