Turning From Evil Ways

God’s word for me today is in Jonah 3:10 which says:

10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.”

Jonah was spit out and the Lord told him to go to Ninevah and tell the people there that the Lord was going to destroy them. Everyone fasted and put on sackcloth and ashes. The king said that maybe if they turned from their evil ways then the Lord would have compassion on them. The Lord saw that they did and He did relent, He didn’t bring destruction to them.

We were going to die just like the people of Ninevah, we were sinners just like the people of  Ninevah and we were going to die because of it. We needed a sacrifice to atone for us, but we would never find a sacrifice that would die for us. Then Jesus, the son of God, came down from heaven and died for us! Because of Jesus sacrifice we can be saved from our sins! If we trust in Jesus then we will be saved because Jesus loved us so much that He died for us!

19 We love because he first loved us.” (NIV 1 John 4:19)

We love because Jesus loved us enough to die for us! We should love Jesus and we should love others. The Bible even says to love our enemies. The way that we can love others is by helping them spiritually and physically. We can help their physical needs by giving them food if they don’t have it and so on. We can help them spiritually by sharing the Gospel with them! If they are unbelievers then we should share the Gospel with them so that they can trust in Jesus and become saved too.

If you have not trusted in Jesus then why don’t you do that now? Jesus died for us and if you trust in Him then He will save you. Praise the Lord that we are saved from our sins!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
