Seek the Lord and Live

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Amos 5:6 which says:

Seek the Lord and live,
or he will sweep through the tribes of Joseph like a fire;
it will devour them,
and Bethel will have no one to quench it.”

Now Amos is saying for the people to seek the Lord and live. They still had not repented from their sins, and if they turned to the Lord then they would live. If they did not repent of their sins and seek the Lord then they would die with their sins on them. The same was for us, we were guilty with our sins on us. We were going to die, we needed a sacrifice to die for us.

But we could seek the Lord and live! How? Jesus (the son of God and God Himself) died for us on the cross. Jesus is perfect and He loved us so much that we can live if we seek Him. If we seek the Lord then He will save us, Jesus died for us so that we could live and all we have to do is ask Him to be our savior. If we seek Jesus then we will find Him.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (NIV Mathew 7:7)

If we seek the Lord then we will find Him, if you have not sought the Lord then why don’t  you seek Him and be saved from your sins? Jesus took the sins of the whole world, past and future, on Himself and He was our sacrifice! Jesus endured all of God’s wrath and our sins on Him at the cross. Why don’t you trust in Him, He loved you so much that He died for you!

Amos is almost pleading with the Israelites to come and seek the Lord so that they would live! We should do the same with unbelievers. We should share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they can seek the Lord and be saved from their sins. If you seek Jesus our savior then you will be saved from your sins.

Praise the Lord that we can look for Jesus and be saved from our sins! Thank You Jesus for dying for us on the cross and being our savior so that we can live. Jesus bore God’s wrath and our sins on Him at the cross, thank You Jesus!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
