Hi, God’s word for me today is in Romans 15:12-13 which says:
“12 And again, Isaiah says,
“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”[a]
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Paul quotes a passage in Isaiah where it talks about the “Root of Jesse” who would come and rule over the nations and also be the hope of the Gentiles. This “Root of Jesse” would be the ruler of the nations and the hope of the Gentiles.
Who is this Root of Jesse? Jesus! Jesus is the descendant of Jesse and the passage in Isaiah that Paul quotes is pointing forward to Jesus! Jesus is the one who is the ruler of the nations and He is the hope of the Gentiles! At first only the Jews were God’s people and they were the only ones that God accepted if they obeyed His commands. But the Jews rejected Jesus and so now every person, Jew or Gentile, can trust in Jesus and live. Jesus died for us so that we could live and now we are saved because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
Jesus is the Root of Jesse who died for us, He is the hope of the Gentiles. If you are an unbeliever then why don’t you trust in Jesus and live? Jesus died on the cross so that we could live, why don’t you trust in the hope of the Gentiles and live? Jesus is our living hope because He rose from the grave, why don’t you trust in Him and be saved? Jesus died for us on the cross!
As Christians we are filled to overflowing with hope and we have joy and peace! The Holy Spirit fills us with joy and peace and we overflow with hope! We should share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they too can be filled with joy and peace and have overflowing hope. We should give the Gospel to unbelievers so that they can be saved from their sins and so that they can live! Jesus died for us and we should share that good news with unbelievers!
Thank You Jesus for dying for us on the cross. We should praise God for sending His son to die for us on the cross. Jesus is our hope, thank the Lord that we are saved from our sins because of our hope!
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
