The Sermon: None of Us are Good

Hi, today the pastor preached on Mark 10:17 and his main 2 points were:

1. (Most people think that) good people go to heaven.

2. Forgiven people go to heaven.

The pastor talked on how people think that good people go to heaven, that God only allows people who do good deeds and who are a good person to go to heaven. People assume that if your good then you will go to heaven. Although there are some problems with that. The pastor said that the Bible doesn’t really give us score count, it doesn’t say exactly how to be a good person. Also religious leaders will not agree on what “good” is, terrorist think that by exploding people you will get to heaven.

Even though most people think that if you’re a good person you will go to heaven, the truth is that we have to be perfect to get to heaven and none of us are “good” or perfect. The pastor said that really forgiven people go to heaven. We are forgiven because Jesus died for us! If we trust in Him then we are forgiven, and we will go to heaven. We are perfect in Christ, Jesus is perfect and we are in Him so we are perfect in God’s eyes.

I hope you like my summary as much as I enjoyed the sermon!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
