Love Sums it All Up

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Romans 13:9-10 which says:

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”[a] and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”

Paul is telling the Romans that love is the fulfillment of the law. Paul says that all of the commandments can be summed up in the commandment that says love your neighbor as yourself. If you love your neighbor then you will not murder them, you won’t steal from them. All of the commandments are summed up in love.

Jesus is the perfect example of love. He loved us so much that He died for us on the cross. Jesus came down from heaven and He died for us on the cross. The reason that He died for us is because He loves us!

“For God so loved the world that He sent His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV John 3:16)

Jesus loved us so much that He came and He died for us on the cross so that we could live! Jesus loved us so much that He died for us on the cross! Now we live because Jesus died and rose again. Not only does John 3:16 say that Jesus loves us but 1 John 3:16 says:

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (NIV 1 John 3:16)

Not only did Jesus love us enough to die for us but He is the very definition of love! The reason is because He actually died for us, His enemies! The way we know what love is, is because Jesus laid down His life for us!

We should also love because Jesus loved us. We should love each other, we should want to love one another. Jesus is love and He obeyed the Law perfectly for us, then He died for us. We should love one another just like Jesus loved us. Also if we are afraid, we should remember Jesus died for us and the perfect love that He has for us.

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (NIV 1 John 4:18)

Jesus died for us and now we are alive! Thank You Jesus!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
