Hi, God’s word for me today is 8:24 which says:
“24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?”
What hope were we saved in? Paul says in the beginning of verse 24 that it was “in this hope we were saved”. The hope that we were saved by is the hope that Jesus died for us on the cross with our sins and God’s wrath on Him. Jesus died for us so that we could live, and now we have a hope that saved us from our sins. But our hope would be dead if Christ had not rose from the dead on the third day and then ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us! Jesus rose from the grave and now our hope is alive.
We were sinners who did not have freedom from sins. But Jesus was our hope that we would be freed from our sins. Now we are free from our sins! Jesus was and is our everlasting hope, Jesus will not die for a second time, He is alive and He is our living hope! Unbelievers do not have an everlasting hope, that is why they go to things like 12 step groups or psychotropic drugs, because they are hopeless. If you are an unbeliever, why don’t you trust in the everlasting hope that Jesus gives us? If you trust in Jesus you will have an everlasting hope.
As Christians we should remind ourselves and each other of the hope that we have in Jesus. Jesus died for us and we should remember that, if we forget then we will not be able to give the Gospel to unbelievers and we might become prideful. Much more can happen if we forget the Gospel. We should remember the everlasting hope that we have in Jesus!
Praise God for what He has done for us on the cross! Jesus gave us an everlasting hope that will never fade! We should praise Jesus for the everlasting hope that He gave us on the cross! We should thank Jesus for dying for us on the cross. We should praise Him for being our atoning sacrifice and taking our sins and God’s wrath on Him. We should that Him for not only dying for us, but for being a living hope when He rose from the grave and ascended into heaven!
