Dead To the Law

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Romans 7:4 which says:

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.”

In this passage Paul is talking about how you are only under the law until you die, and then you are no longer under the law. But because we are under the law for all of our life, we are going to die with God’s wrath on us. We can’t obey the law on our own, we are helpless. But, Jesus died on the cross and if we trust in Him we are dead to the law. Jesus died on the cross with our sins on Him along with God’s wrath on Him. Now if we trust in Him we are saved from our sins, if we believe in Jesus then we are dead to the law.

Jesus died on the cross, if we believe in Jesus then we have died in Him. Jesus is the new “law”, if we believe in Jesus we should have a good testimony. We should not live like unbelievers, if we do then unbeliever think that having Christ doesn’t affect our life. We should want to obey Jesus. If you are an unbeliever and are still under the law, then why don’t you trust in Jesus and die to the law?

In the last part of verse 4 Paul says that we can bear fruit for God. If we trust in Jesus and we spread the Gospel then we should have fruit for Christ. We should have people come to Christ. We should share the Gospel with unbelievers, we should share the Good news that we are dead to the law if we trust in Jesus.

Jesus died for us on the cross and now we have died to sin because of Him. Praise God for sending His son to die for us:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV John 3:16)

We are dead to the law because Jesus died for us. In Christ we are dead to the law and to our sin because Jesus died for us on the cross.

We are dead to the law because Jesus died for us on the cross!

We are dead to the law because Jesus died for us on the cross. Thank You Jesus!

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
