Hi, God’s word for me today is in Romans 1:7 which says:
“7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Today we will see how we are loved by God and how we are His holy people just like “all those in Rome” who Paul is talking to in this letter. We are loved by God too and we are His holy people if we trust in Jesus.
We are loved by God and if we trust in Jesus then we are His holy people. Jesus came down from heaven and He died for our sins on the cross so that we could live. Now if you are an unbeliever then you should repent of your sins and trust in Jesus, if you do then you will be one of the holy people of God. Not only that but you will be a child of God, you will be loved by God. Jesus loved us so much that He died for us, so we are loved by God and now we are the holy people of God.
Let’s talk about how we are loved by God. Jesus loved us before we loved Him. It says so in 1 John 4:19, “19 We love because He first loved us.” Jesus loved us first and so He died for us and now we love Him. Jesus loved us so much that He died for our sins on the cross, that is how much He loved us. Even though we were His enemies He died for us because He had agape love (the love that only God can have).
We are loved by God and we are called to be His holy people. We are the holy people of God. What does that mean for us? Well not only do we get privileges but we get responsibilities. As the holy people of God (as Christians) we are not to have habitual sin. Christians do have flesh and we do sin but Jesus is in us and we should not have habitual sin that is taking over our lives. We should be slaves to Christ. Being a Christian does not mean that we can sin and sin because Jesus forgives us, Paul says in Romans 5 and 6 that we are dead to sin and alive in Christ.
We are loved by God. Jesus loved us so much that He atoned for our sins on the cross so that we could live. Jesus took our sins and God’s wrath on Him, and He died for us on a cross. If you have trusted in Him then you are a Christian and you are one of the holy people of God. We are dead to our sins and alive in Christ, we are freed from our sins and slaves (in a good way) to Jesus. Jesus died for us because He loved us, and when He died for us (and if we believe in Him) we are free from our sins.
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
