When The Son Of Man Is Lifted Up

Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 12:30-33 which says,

30 Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up[a] from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.”

In this passage some Greeks came up to worship at the festival that was going on and they came to Philip asking if they might see Jesus. Philip told Andrew, then Philip and Andrew went to tell Jesus. Jesus replied to them that the hour had come for the Son of Man to be glorified and then Jesus said that unless a kernel of wheat falls on the ground and dies it remains only a single seed. But that if the kernel dies it produces many seeds. Jesus then said that if anyone loved their life then they would lose it but whoever served Jesus must follow Jesus. Jesus said that wherever He was then His servant would also be there. After Jesus talks to them a little bit Jesus talks to His Father (the Lord) and His Father answers back and those that could here Him thought that it was thunder and others that it was an angel. Jesus then said that it was for the people’s benefit and then He indicated the kind of death He was going to die.

Jesus said that He was going to be lifted up, but what kind of death it that? Well Jesus was indicating that He was going to die a death on a cross! Jesus was going to be lifted up onto the cross and then nailed to the cross. But why would Jesus do that? For us! Jesus came down from heaven and took our sins on Him and then He died on the cross for us! Jesus did that for us, that was the reason that Jesus cam down from heaven and that was the reason that He died for our sins! Jesus died for the sins of the world,

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (NIV 1 John 2:2)

Jesus is our atoning sacrifice and not only ours but the atoning sacrifice for the whole world!

We should believe in Jesus, in John 12:36 says that we should believe in the light (Jesus) so that we can become children of the light. Jesus makes us children of God! If we believe in Jesus then we will become children of God!

12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (NIV John 1:12)

We will be given the right to become children of God if we believe in Jesus! If you are not a Christian then why don’t you repent of your sins and trust in Jesus as your savior? Dear Jesus, please forgive me of my sins, please come into my heart and make me clean. In Jesus name, Amen.

We should share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they can trust in Jesus! We should give unbelievers the Gospel that Jesus died for our sins on the cross, we should give them the light so that they too can become children of the light. We should give them Jesus so that they can live, so that they can have eternal life and so that they can be free from their sins.

Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to die for us! Thank You Jesus that You came down from heaven and took our sins on You and then died for us on the cross! Thank You Jesus for rising again on the third day and then ascending into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You Jesus for loving us so much that You died for our sins. Thank You Jesus for giving us the light and making us children of the light. Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to die for us on the cross!

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
