Young Donkey

Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 12:14-15 which says,

14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: 15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”[a]”

In this passage there was a festival and when the crowd heard that Jesus was coming they grabbed palm leaves and laid them out along with their clothes to make a path for Him. Jesus then rode on a young donkey just as in Zechariah it says, “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming seated on a donkey’s colt.” Jesus was the king of Zion but why wasn’t He on a kingly white steed or something? Well the donkey is called a beast of burden and it is symbolizing that Jesus would take a burden on Him. Jesus was just like that donkey in that He was going to take on a burden, Jesus was going to take a burden on Himself for us. Jesus who was and is the king of Zion was going to take a burden onto Him, for us! Jesus would actually do that for us, He would take on a burden for us.

What burden would Jesus take on Himself? The burden of sin! Jesus was going to take the sins of the whole world and He was going to die for our sins on the cross! Jesus took the burden of the sins of the world and then die on a cross for our sins! Jesus, the king of Zion, humbled Himself enough to die on the cross for our sins! Jesus came down from heaven and took all of our sins on Him and then He died on the cross for our sins so that we could live! Jesus is our savior, He came and took our sins on Him and then He died on the cross for our sins.

We should trust in Jesus! We should believe in Jesus as our savior. If you haven’t accepted Chris as your savior then why don’t you now? Dear Jesus, I’m sorry for all the sins that I have done, please live in me and make me more like you. In Jesus name, Amen. We should trust in Jesus as our savior, we should accept Him and trust in Him. If we repent of our sins and trust in Jesus then we will have eternal life, Jesus gives it to us.

We should also glorify Jesus just like the people did when they laid palm leaves along with their clothes on the ground to make a path for Jesus. Glorifying Jesus doesn’t mean that we have to lay down palm leaves but we can praise Him. Also even if we are young then Jesus can still use us, just like the young donkey. We should trust in Jesus and we should glorify Jesus and we should also share the Gospel with unbelievers. If unbelievers hear the Gospel then they can trust in Jesus and live! We should share the Gospel with others.

Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to die for our sins even though You are the king of Zion. Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins and then rising again on the third day and then ascending into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You Jesus for loving us so much that You died for our sins so that we could live. Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins on the cross, thank You for taking our sins on You and atoning for us on the cross.

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
