Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 10:27-30 which says,
“27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.””
In this passage Jesus is talking to the Pharisees and they had wanted to stone Him because they thought He was a mere human, but Jesus is God-man. Jesus then told them that they were not His sheep, his sheep listened to His voice. Jesus said that His sheep followed Him and that He gave them eternal life, they would never perish and no one would snatch them out of His hand. Jesus said that no one would snatch them out of His hand or out of His Father’s hand. Jesus said that He and the Father were one. Jesus was saying that His sheep knew His voice and that they followed Him. Jesus gave His sheep eternal life and they would never perish because they were in His hand and in His Father’s hand.
Who are Jesus’ sheep? We are if we trust in Jesus! We were sinners that had all of God’s wrath on us but then Jesus came down from heaven and took our sins and God’s wrath on Him and then He died in our place at the cross! Jesus took our place when He died for us. If we trust in Jesus then we will have eternal life, we will become Jesus’ sheep! Jesus died for us on the cross, He loved us enough to die for our sins. He was our atoning sacrifice, He died in our place at the cross!
We should trust in Jesus, if we believe in Jesus and repent of our sins then we will become the sheep of God! We will become the children of God, we will have eternal life and we will never perish. But why did Jesus die for our sins on a cross? Why would God come down from heaven and die for our sins?
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV John 3:16)
Jesus loved us so much that He died for our sins, we should trust in Him as our savior, we should believe in Him and have eternal life. If we trust in Him then we will not perish, we will be in Jesus’ and in the Father’s hands. That is one tight grip!
We should trust in Jesus and we should follow Jesus. We should listen to Jesus’ voice and we should follow what He is telling us to do. We should follow Jesus’ voice, we should obey God. We can’t be perfect, all humans have flesh but Christians should not have habitual sins. Jesus is in us and is making us more like Him. We should trust in Jesus.
Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to die in our place at the cross. Thank You Jesus for taking our sins and God’s wrath off of us and then dying for us on the cross. Thank You Jesus for making us apart of Your flock. Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to atone for our sins. Thank You Jesus for rising again on the third day and then ascending into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You Jesus for all that you have done for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
