Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 9:49-51 which says,
Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
In this passage Jesus came across a blind beggar who had been blind from birth. Jesus’ disciples asked Him if it was the blind man’s parents who sinned of the blind man Himself, they thought that the reason the blind man was blind was because he or his parents had sinned. Jesus told them that it was not because anyone sinned that the blind man was blind but that the works of God would be displayed in Him. Then Jesus tells then that they should do the works of the one who sent Jesus (God) and that when it is night no one can work. Then Jesus told them that He was the light of the world.
What did Jesus mean when he said that He was the light of the world? Well we were sinners who were going to die in our sins with God’s wrath on us. We were of the world and the world is dark, it is filled with sin. But Jesus came down from heaven and He died for our sins on the cross, He loved us enough to die on the cross with our sins and God’s wrath on Him. Jesus died for us, He loved us enough to atone for our sins.
We should trust in Jesus, we should believe in Jesus and live. If we trust in Jesus and we repent of our sins then we will live, we will have eternal life. Jesus loved us so much that He died for us; we should accept His sacrifice and be saved from our sins. Jesus gives us the right to become children of God if we accept Him. We will become sons and daughters of God because the Son of God died for us. If we believe in Jesus’ atoning sacrifice and if we repent of our sins, then we will have eternal life and we will live. We should trust in Jesus so that we can be saved from our sins.
In John 9 Jesus said that we should do the works of Him who sent Jesus. The Lord sent Jesus and we should do His works as long as it is day. We should do His works for as long as we can. But what should we do? We should share the Gospel with others, we should help other people’s needs spiritually and physically. If someone needs a coat and you have two, then give one to the person who needs the coat. That is what the Bible says. We should trust in Jesus and we should help others to trust in Jesus. We should help others to believe in Jesus.
Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to wash the mud of sin from our eyes on the cross. Thank You Jesus for taking our sins and God’s wrath on You and then dying for us, thank You Jesus for exchanging Your righteousness for our sins and God’s wrath. Thank You Jesus for rising again on the third day and then ascending into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You Jesus for all that You have done for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
