Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 8:9-11 which says,
” 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
In this passage the Pharisees brought a woman who was caught in adultery and asked if they should stone her to death because that was what the law said to do. The reason they asked Jesus was to get Him in a trap so that they could condemn Him. Jesus then started to write in the dirt after that He told them that whoever was sinless enough to stone her should go ahead and do it. Then they started to leave, the oldest going first. Jesus then started to write again, when He straightened the only person standing there was the woman and then He asked her if anyone had condemned her so she said that no one had. Then Jesus said that He would not condemn her either then He told her to leave her life of sin.
Jesus could have condemned the adulterous woman because He was (and is) perfect. But why did Jesus come down from heaven? To help sinners, we were sinners and we were going to die with our sins and God’s wrath on us. But Jesus came down from heaven and took our sins and God’s wrath on Him and died on the cross for our sins! Jesus came down from heaven and died for our sins! Jesus was (and is) perfect and He could have condemned the adulterous woman, Jesus could have condemned us but instead He purified us. Jesus covered us in His blood so that we are now pure and holy in God’s eyes.
We should trust in Jesus! We should believe in Jesus and repent of our sins so that we can live. The devil tries to condemn us but Jesus says that we are clean because of Him. The devil says that we are not obeying the law but Jesus says that we are following the new law, we are trusting in Jesus and we have repented of our sins. Jesus lives in us and we are being made new and pure and holy. When we get to heaven we will not have our flesh any more. If you have not trusted in Jesus then you should trust in Jesus.
We should follow Jesus’ instructions, “stop sinning.” I’m not saying that we can be perfect, we all have flesh but Christians should be different in that we have Jesus in us and He shows through us. He is perfect and people can see when He shines through us. We should give Jesus to others. We should give the Gospel to unbelievers, so that they can have Jesus in them, so that they can live. We should give Jesus and the Gospel of Jesus to others.
Thank You Jesus for not condemning us and instead giving us Your perfection. Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins on the cross for our sins. Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to come down from heaven and dying for our sins. Thank You Jesus for rising again on the third day and then ascending into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You Jesus for all that You have done for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
