To Whom Shall We Go?

Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 6:67-69 which says,

” 67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Almost all of Jesus’ disciples had left Him because Jesus had said that they should eat His body and drink His blood. Of course He didn’t mean physically, but most of His disciples left Him because of it. Then Jesus asked the twelve, “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Then the disciples answered by saying that there was no one else to go to and that Jesus had the words of eternal life. They told Jesus that they had come to believe in Jesus and to know that He was the Holy One of God.

But how is Jesus the Holy One of God? Jesus was and is perfect and He was and is the son of God (and God Himself) and that is why He is the Holy One of God. But now the question is: why did Jesus come down from heaven? Jesus came down from heaven for a specific purpose and that purpose was atone for our sins. Jesus came down from heaven because He loved us, and He died with our sins and God’s wrath on Him because He loved us. The Holy One of God died for us on the cross.

We should accept Jesus because He died for our sins on the cross. Jesus came down from heaven and took our sins and God’s wrath on Him so that we could live, we should trust in Him and be saved. Jesus gives us eternal life at the cross, He gave us the right to become sons and daughters of God at the cross. He loved us enough to give us the right to become sons and daughters of God, how amazing is that.

12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (NIV John 1:12)

Jesus died for our sins and He gave us His righteousness in exchange for our sins and God’s wrath, He is the lamb of God that atoned for the sins of the world as John said.

We should believe in Jesus and become children of God. We should also be like the Twelve disciples, we should remain with Jesus. We should say like Peter did, “To who shall we go to?” We should remain in Christ. As hard as it is, we should trust in Jesus and live. We should also help unbelievers to accept Christ as their savior, we should share the Gospel with them and help them to accept Jesus as their savior. We should believe in Jesus and help others to believe in Jesus by sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to die for us. Thank You Jesus for taking our sins and God’s wrath on You and giving us Your righteousness then dying on the cross for us as our atoning sacrifice. Thank You Jesus for rising again on the third day and then ascending into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You Jesus for letting us trust in You and for giving us the right to become children of God. Thank You Jesus for being our atoning sacrifice. Thank You Jesus for all that You have done for us.

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
