Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 3:29-30 which says,
“The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.30 He must become greater; I must become less.”[a]”
John is talking to his disciples because they told John that Jesus was baptizing everyone and that they were going to Jesus to be baptized instead on John. But John is not angry about it, John says that a bride belongs to the bridegroom and a friend of the bridegroom waits and listens for the bridegroom and when he hears the bridegrooms voice he is filled with joy. John says that he has that same joy, then he says that Jesus must become greater and that he must become less. John is being humble and not angry.
But why must Jesus become greater, why did John say that? Well John knew that Jesus was special, that is why John said that Jesus was the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John was right when he said that, Jesus is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and Jesus did take away the sins of the world. All we have to do is repent of our sins and accept Christ as our savior. How did Christ take away the sins of the world though? Through His death and Resurrection on the cross! Jesus came down from heaven and died for our sins with our sins and God’s wrath on Him and then He rose again on the third day. That is how Jesus took away our sins.
Jesus was and is perfect and He loved us enough to die for our sins and He didn’t only die for our sins but He Resurrected from the dead. But after He rose from the grave (after appearing to thousands of people) He ascended into heaven to mediate on our behalf and to prepare a place for us. Jesus died for our sins so that we could live, we should accept His sacrifice and repent of our sins. We can live if we trust in Jesus and repent of our sins. So if you are not a believer then why don’t you come to know Christ right now? Dear Jesus, thank You for dying for my sins and rising from the grave so that I could live, please come into my heart and make me new. In Jesus name, amen.
Jesus died for our sins on the cross so that we could live and we should accept His sacrifice. But we should also be like John, we should say “He must increase and I must decrease”, we should humble ourselves and not get angry if it seems as though someone ministry is prospering and ours isn’t. We should ask the Lord to help us and He will.
Thank You Jesus for coming down from heaven for us. Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins so that we could live. Thank You Jesus for rising from the grave and then ascending into heaven to mediate on our behalf and to prepare a place for us. Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to be or atoning sacrifice so that we could live. Thank You Jesus for helping us and for all that You have done for us. Thank You Jesus for letting us praise You. Praise God that we can live because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
