Hi, God’s word for me today is in John 1:12-13 which says,
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
The verse before 12 talks about how “His” own people didn’t receive “Him” but those who did had the right to become children of God. In fact “He” gave them the right to become children of God. But who is “He”? Well He is given names in John 1 He is called the Word the light and it is hinted that He is the creator. You would think that this passage is talking about God but it says that the word was with God and that the word was God. So “He” is God and He is with God. He is Jesus. Jesus the Holy Spirit and God are a trinity, three in one, so they are three and yet they are one. So if we receive Jesus we will be given the right to become children of God!
But how? How does Jesus give us the right to become children of God? We were sinners that were in need of a savior, we had all of God’s wrath on us, we could hardly be the children of God! But Jesus came down from heaven to make us children of God by dying on the sin for us. Jesus who is the son of God (and God Himself) came down from heaven to die for our sins so that we could live, He loved us enough to die for us and give us the right to become sons and daughters of God. He took our sins on Him and He gave us the right to become children of God.
We should accept Jesus as our savior so that we can live. Jesus came down from heaven so that we could be sons and daughters of God, He died for our sins. We should accept Him as our savior so that we can be born again, free from our sins and free from the devil. If you accept Jesus as your savior then you are free from your sins, if you aren’t then you are captive to your sins. Jesus can set you free, He can give you a right to become a son or daughter of God you just have to repent of your sins (humble yourself) and accept Him as your savior.
We should receive Christ, we should believe in Him as be saved. We should also share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they can be saved and so that they can be a son or daughter of God. Jesus died for our sins and we should trust in Him and spread the Gospel. We should also pray and read the word of God so that we can be in touch with our Father, so that we can talk to Him, listen to Him and read His word.
Thank You Jesus for coming down from heaven, because You loved us, and for dying for our sins so that we could live. Thank You for giving us the right to become children of God, thank You for giving us the ability to praise You and to spread the Gospel. Thank You for giving us Your word and for letting us pray and talk to You. Praise Jesus for coming down from heaven to die for our sins so that we could live. Thank You Jesus for everything that You have done for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
