Hi, God’s word for me today is in 2 Peter 2:8-9 which,
“(for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
Verses 7- 8 is talking about Lot, how he was rescued when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed and how his righteous soul was tormented by the lawless deeds that he saw and heard. Verse 9 talks about how the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgement. The Lord rescues the godly and He holds punishment for the unrighteous.
If the Lord rescues the godly and holds punishment for the unrighteous then that meant we were going to be punished! Why? Well we weren’t godly and we were unrighteous, so we were going to die in our sins. Everyone in the world was going to, but Jesus came down from heaven because He loved us and He died for us. Jesus is the son of God (and God Himself) and He was and is perfect, but He still came down from heaven and died for our sins on the cross! Now we can be saved because of Jesus!
Jesus came down from heaven because He loved us. He died for our sins so that we could live because He loved us. We should trust in Him so that we can be saved. Jesus would have been the only one to live because He was the only one who was (and is) godly and righteous. But He gave us His righteousness in exchange for our sins and now we can live if we trust in Him. After Jesus died on the cross He was buried and our sins were buried with Him, but on the third day He rose from the grave and our sins stayed in the grave. We should trust in Jesus and be saved from our sins. Now Jesus helps us through trials just like Peter says in 2 Peter.
We should trust in Jesus so that we can be saved but we should also spread the news of the Gospel to unbelievers so that they can live. We used to be dead in our sins but we were saved by Jesus, but that doesn’t mean we should spread the good news of he Gospel to unbelievers. We should share the Gospel with unbelievers and we should also worship our savior. He deserves worship because He came down from heaven and died for our sins so that we could live. We should worship Him.
Thank You Jesus for coming down from heaven and dying for us so that we could live. Thank You for helping us through trials. Thank You for loving us enough to sacrifice Yourself for us, thank You for coming down from heaven to die for us so that we could have eternal life. Thank You for making us sons and daughters of God. Thank You Jesus for all that You have done for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
