Hi, God’s word for me today is in 2 Peter 1:3-4 which says,
“3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life, Peter tells us that in verse 3. But who gave us divine power, who is Peter talking about? Peter is talking about the Lord, he (Peter) is saying that the Lord has given us everything we need for a godly life through His (the Lord’s) divine power. Please notice the fact that the Lord gives us what we need not what we want, we might want money or a new car or anything like that but if the Lord knows that we don’t need it then He will not give it to us. The Lord gives us what He knows we need.
But how did the Lord give us all that we need to live godly lives? We were sinners and we deserved death, we had all of God’s wrath on us. How did He give us all that we needed to live godly lives? Well Jesus came down from heaven to die for our sins, He died for our sins so that we could live and be free of sin. Jesus, the son of God (and God Himself) came down from heaven because He loved us and He took all of our sins on Him and died for us. Jesus is our savior, He sacrificed Himself for us so that we wouldn’t have to, He was (and is) perfect and He died for our sins so that we could live.
Jesus came down from heaven because He loved us, and we should accept Him as our savior. We should trust in him so that we can live, we should believe in Him so that we can be perfect in God’s eyes. We should repent of our sins and take Him into our hearts so that we can be covered by His blood. Jesus died for our sins so that we could live, we should accept His sacrifice, we should trust in Him as our savior. He died to save us and we should repent of our sins and trust in Him.
The Lord gave us everything we need to live a godly life and He gave us great and precious promises. At the cross Jesus took away our sins and helped us to live godly lives and He gave us promises. Those promises are eternal life and the Holy Spirit. Along with being a son or daughter of God. But I’m not saying that accepting Jesus as our savior is like living an easy life, we will suffer persecution but we should accept it. We should also share the Gospel with unbelievers and repent of our sins.
Thank You Jesus for coming down from heaven to die for our sins so that we could live. Thank You Jesus for shedding your blood for us, thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit and all the promises that You give us. Thank You Jesus for, on the third day, rising again and then ascending to the father to prepare a place for us and to mediate on our behalf. Thank You for everything that You have given us, thank you dying for our sins so that we could live.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
