love

Hi, God’s word for me today is in 1 Peter 4:8 which says,

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

Love covers over a multitude of sins. Peter says that and Jesus proved it, you see Jesus came down from heaven to “cover over a multitude of sins” and not just any sins, our sins. Jesus is love and He loved us enough to die for our sins and cover over them, He came down from heaven to die for our sins. Jesus was (and is) perfect and His blood covered us and now we are perfect in God’s eyes. Jesus loved us enough to die for us, He is love.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (NIV John 15:13)

Jesus not only lay down His friends but for His enemies, and we were His enemies along with the pharisees. But because Jesus loved us, we should love Him. He died for us even though we were His enemies. He covered over our sins while we were still sinners. Jesus came down from heaven as our savior and He died for our sins so that we could live. We were dead in our sins but now we can live because of Christ.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (NIV Romans 5:8)

We should trust in Jesus because He loved us and He died for us. We should accept Him as our savior so that we can live and not be dead. We should believe in Christ because He came down from heaven to die for our sins. If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your savior then why don’t you do it now: Dear Jesus, please come into my heart and make me clean. Thank You Jesus for dying for my sins, please live in me, in Jesus’ name amen.

Peter says that we are to love each other, that is His exhortation to believers. He says that we are to love each other because love covers over a multitude of sins. If our brother (or sister) sins against us then we should love them because Love covers over a multitude of sins. I know that it isn’t the easiest thing to do but if you pray to the Lord to help you then He will help you. Peter says that we are to love each other deeply. That word, deeply, is a key word here because if we just love each we might say “I love you  but I’m not going to forgive you.” even though we should forgive each other. Jesus loved us deeply, that is why He died for our sins even though we were His enemies, so we are to love each other deeply.

Thank God that love covers over a multitude of sins. I know that my sins really are a multitude, thank You Jesus for dying for our sins. Thank You for coming down from heaven because You loved us (deeply) to die for us. Thank You for rising again on the third day (after being buried) and ascending into heaven to mediate on our behalf and to prepare a place for us. Thank You Jesus for covering over our sins.

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
