Hi, God’s word for me today is in Hosea 10:3 which says,
“Then they will say, “We have no king
because we did not revere the LORD.
But even if we had a king,
what could he do for us?”
I’ve been saying in my recent posts that the Israelites sinned against God, and the Israelites are acknowledging one of the ways that they did in this verse. They admitted that they didn’t revere God, and they might have known that if you don’t revere God you are going to fall into many other sins. Anyway they said that they didn’t revere God and they thought that because they didn’t revere God they didn’t get a king, but then they said that a king wouldn’t even be able to do anything for them. They should have trusted in God to be their king and their ruler. If you don’t revere God or respect Him then you will find yourself falling into many more sins and you will find that your life will be a mess because you won’t have a ruler.
The Israelites didn’t have a king and they thought that the reasons was because they didn’t revere God. But they also thought that a king wouldn’t have been able to do anything for them at the moment, and they were right. No human king could have done anything for them and no human king would have been able to do anything for us either. As unbelievable as it may be to you we were just like the Israelites, we didn’t revere God and we sinned just as much as the Israelites. But a sacrifice came down from heaven to atone for our sins perfectly, that sacrifice was the son of God, Jesus. Jesus was (and is) perfect and He was (and is) the son of God (and God Himself) and He came down from heaven to die for our sins because He loved us. Thank You Jesus for coming down from heaven to be our king.
Jesus came down from heaven to be our king, we just have to accept Him as not only our king, but our sacrifice. Jesus died for our sins because He loved us, and we should love Him and worship and praise Him. He is our life, if we don’t accept Him we are refusing life, thank You Jesus for coming down from heaven to atone for our sins on the cross.
“We love because he first loved us.” (NIV 1 John 4:19)
Jesus loved us enough to die for us and now we love Him.
As Christians we should praise God and worship Him. We should share the Gospel with others and accept God’s plan with our lives. Unlike the Israelites we should revere God and trust in Him as our king. We shouldn’t need and earthly king, we just need God as our king and savior and father. Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to come down from heaven and die for our sins then rise again on the third day. Thank You for being our king.
Praise Jesus for showing us our need of a savior and for giving us a savior, Himself. Thank You Jesus for sacrificing yourself for us and for dying on a criminals cross so that we could live. Thank You for letting us trust in You and for being our loving and understanding king, please help us to always revere you. Thank you for loving us so that we could love you, thank You Jesus for giving yourself up. Thank you for everything that you have given us and for everything that you have done for us.
Are you trusting in Jesus?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
