Israel has rejected

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Hosea 8:1-3 which says,

“Put the trumpet to your lips!
An eagle is over the house of the LORD
because the people have broken my covenant
and rebelled against my law.
2 Israel cries out to me,
‘Our God, we acknowledge you!’
3 But Israel has rejected what is good;
an enemy will pursue him.”

Israel actually called out to God while they were sinning, they still thought that if they asked God to save them while they were sinning then they would be saved. But no, in the last verse the Lord says that an enemy was going to pursue them, if you think that you will be saved from God’s wrath while you are sinning you are wrong. You should think a moment as to why God’s wrath would be on you, because of you sin! If you keep sinning then God’s wrath will be on you, just like it was on the Israelites.

God’s wrath was going to demolish us, but a sacrifice (a perfect sacrifice) came down from heaven and died for our sins. The Israelites had tried to offer sacrifices for their sins but it didn’t work because they were offering sacrifices while they sinned. But the sacrifice that came down from heaven to atone for our sins was perfect and He perfectly atoned for our sins. That sacrifice was Jesus. Jesus (the son of God and God Himself) came down from heaven to die for our sins because He loved us. Jesus was destroyed by God’s wrath so that we wouldn’t be. Thank You Jesus.

As believers we are covered from God’s wrath, but unbelievers are sinners that have God’s wrath on them. If you are an unbeliever you are like the Israelites, maybe you think that if you work hard enough or just try harder to be perfect then you will be right with God, but the only way to be perfect in God’s eyes is through Christ. But maybe you haven’t even realized that you aren’t right with God, you might think that you’re a good person and that your certainly better than that guy over there, but what you don’t understand is that you are a sinner. You are condemned to die, and there is only one thing you can do, cry to Jesus. If you look to Jesus and ask Him to take God’s wrath off of you then He will do it, thank You Jesus for taking our sins and God’s wrath off of us. So if you are a sinner that hasn’t accepted Jesus as your savior, look to Jesus and be saved.

Christians do have a role to play, though. Christians should be different form the world, think about it if the world see’s Christians acting just like them then they will think that Christians aren’t any different from the world. But if they see Christians preaching the Gospel that Jesus died for our sins in the face of death or if they see martyrs dying with peace they might think that we are different from the world. We should have a Christian testimony. Although that is one thing among many, we also should share the Gospel with others and we should praise God with all of our heart.

“Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (NIV Mathew 22:37)

Worship and love go together, we love God and we worship Him. We should love and worship Him with our heart our soul and our mind, Christians are working on that day to day and when we get to heaven we will love Him with all of our heart and soul and mind. Thank You Jesus.

Thank You Jesus for humbling Yourself so much that you were not only born in a manger and that you not only became a man but died on the cross for our sins. Thank You Jesus that you died for our sins and then after being in the grave for three days, rising out of the grave. Thank You Jesus that, after you appeared to many people, You ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us and to mediate for us. Thank You Jesus for everything that You have done for us.

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
