Covered with shame

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Daniel 9:8-10 which says,

“We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, LORD, because we have sinned against you. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10 we have not obeyed the LORD our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets.”

Daniel is praying to God and Daniel was telling God that because they had disobeyed Him they were full of shame at their sins. Daniel said that they (the Israelites) their kings, their princes and their ancestors had shame on them because of their sins. But Daniel also says that the Lord is merciful and forgiving even though they had rebelled against him, the Lord was merciful to the Israelites and He was forgiving.

The Lord forgave the sins of the Israelites and He forgave us of our sins. We were sinners and we needed a savior, but we deserved death. The Lord had mercy on us and He sent His son to die for our sins, He sent His son who is Jesus Christ! Jesus actually died for our sins on the cross, thank You Jesus. Jesus loved us enough to die for our sins, He actually died for us because He loved us. That is amazing.

Christ forgives those who ask Him, and as believers we can go into God’s presence and ask for forgiveness and He will wipe the shame off of our faces. Jesus died so that we could go free from death, He took our sins and God’s wrath on Him and He took our place on the cross. It is much better to be a believer in Christ and to not have any shame on our faces than it is to be covered in shame and sin.

As believers we have a role to play, we have to do something. We should trust in God and ask Him to forgive us of our sins, and we should share the Gospel with others. We should worship Christ too, Jesus is our Lord and savior and He is forgiving and merciful, He actually died for our sins. He loved us enough to die for us and we should love Him enough to worship Him and to share the Gospel with others.

Praise God for all that He has done for us, praise God for sending Jesus to die for our sins. Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins on the cross, thank you for letting us trust in You for all that you have done. Thank You for forgiving us of our sins and for being merciful to us and taking God’s wrath away from us and giving us your righteousness.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (NIV 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus became sin for us and He made us the righteousness of God, thank You Jesus.

Are you trusting in Jesus?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
