The fathers face turned away

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 39:29 which says,

“I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD.”

Here the Lord is telling Ezekiel that He would no longer hide His face from the Israelites. Before (because of the Israelites’ sin) the Lord hid His face from the Israelites, but now that the Lord had mercy on them He stopped hiding His face from them and poured out His Spirit on Israel. The Lord had mercy and compassion on the Israelites, and that was why He poured out His Spirit on them.

The Lord had compassion on Israel and instead of hiding His face from them forever He poured out His Spirit on them, and the Lord not only had compassion on the Israelites, He had compassion on us. We were sinners and the Lord was hiding His face from us, and unless we could become perfect or have a perfect sacrifice that would die in our place, we were going to die. But of course we couldn’t just become perfect and there wasn’t a perfect sacrifice on the whole earth, so we couldn’t be saved by anything on this earth.

But that was why God was merciful on us and sent a sacrifice that was perfect to die for our sins on the cross. That sacrifice was Jesus, He came down from heaven to atone for our sins on a cross. He died on a criminals cross, for us. But Jesus wasn’t just sent down from heaven, He came willingly to die for our sins. But why would Jesus come down from heaven and (temporarily) give up His home in heaven to die for sinners on a criminals cross? Why would the son of God do that?

Because He loved us. That was the reason that Jesus died for our sins, that was the reason that Jesus endured His father turning His face away from Him. That was why He bore our sins and God’s wrath on Him and took our place at the cross,

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (NIV 1 John 3:16)

Jesus loved us so much that He died on the cross for our sins. Now we should love Him, serve Him and praise Him for everything that He has done for us. We should also share the Gospel with others.

Thank you Jesus for dying for our sins on the cross?

Have you accepted Jesus as your savior?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
