Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 36:9-10 which says,
” I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, 10 and I will cause many people to live on you—yes, all of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt.”
This verse is talking about the land of Israel, all the desolate land and all the mountains that used to have people living on them. The Lord is telling the land of Israel that the Israelites were going to inhabit the land, and if you look through the whole passage you’ll see that not only is the Lord going to move the Israelites, He was going to destroy the other nations because they laughed at Israel and scoffed at Israel. The Lord had mercy on Israel and He recovered and saved them.
The Lord not only had mercy on Israel, but He had mercy on us. Israel had been made desolate because of their sins, but the Lord saved them. We were desolate because of our sins too, we were stuck in a pit of sin that we couldn’t get out of. But the Lord came down into the pit of sin that we were in and He saved us by picking us up and bringing us out of the pit.
But how did the Lord save us? How were we saved from our sins? We weren’t perfect and we couldn’t find any perfect sacrifice on this earth, so how did the Lord save us? By sending a sacrifice down from heaven to atone for our sins. He sent a perfect sacrifice to die in our place on the cross. Who was that sacrifice? Jesus who was (and is) the son of God. Jesus came down from heaven lived a perfect life was beaten beyond recognition and then died on the cross for our sins so that we could live, thank you Jesus.
Jesus died for our sins on the cross. But why would Jesus come down from heaven to atone for us sinners?
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV John 3:16)
Jesus loved us so much that He died for our sins on the cross, now we should love Him and praise Him and glorify Him in everything we do. Now Christ is our example and we follow Him, and we should also share the Gospel with others. Thank you Jesus for loving us enough to die for our sins on the cross.
We were in the pit of sin and then Jesus descended into the pit and atoned for our sins on the cross.
Are you trusting in Jesus as your savior?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
