Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 32:10 which says,
“I will cause many peoples to be appalled at you,
and their kings will shudder with horror because of you when I brandish my sword before them.
On the day of your downfall each of them will tremble every moment for his life.”
Okay, this chapter is talking about the downfall of Egypt and how the Lord was going to destroy Egypt because of their sins and this verse says that all the nations around Egypt were going to be appalled by how Egypt was going to be destroyed and that the other nations were going to tremble before the Lord. But the reason was, as always, sin. That was why Egypt was going to be destroyed, in passages before this one the Bible tells us that Egypt was full of pride that was one of Egypt’s sins.
The Egyptians were going to be destroyed because of sins and we were also sinners so we too were going to die. We were going to have God’s wrath on us along with our sins and we were going to die and there wasn’t a thing that we could to to be perfect or obtain a perfect sacrifice.
But God sent a sacrifice that would die for us and that would be appalled at by everyone. God sent a sacrifice to take all of His (the Lord’s) wrath on that sacrifice along with our sins and die in our place on the cross. The sacrifice that died for our sins was Jesus who was (and is) the son of God and who was (and is) perfect.
Jesus actually came down from heaven to die for our sins on the cross, He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, was beaten beyond recognition and died for our sins on the cross. But why would the son of God (and God Himself) die for our sins on the cross?
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (NIV 1 John 3:16)
Jesus not only loved us, Jesus was love He was the perfect example of love and He loved us enough to die for our sins on a criminals cross. Now we should praise Jesus for what He has done for us and we should spread the Gospel with others. Thank you Jesus.
Are you trusting in Jesus who loved us so much that He died for us?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
