Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 15:4 which says,
“And after I is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?”
Alright, the Lord is telling Ezekiel that He is going to destroy the Israelites. The Lord was going to burn them in the fire. This verse says that if wood is thrown into the fire it isn’t useful for anything. The Israelites weren’t perfect, and they never could be and because they didn’t have a perfect sacrifice (all they had were animals that weren’t perfect) so they were going to die.
Likewise we were going to die because of our sins. We weren’t perfect (just like the Israelites) and there weren’t any perfect animals that would be sacrifices for us. We were completely hopeless, we couldn’t do anything to help ourselves. So we were going to die like the Israelites.
But that is why Jesus was our sacrifice. Jesus was (and is) God’s son (and God Himself), and He died for our sins. Jesus was (and is) perfect and He atoned for our sins perfectly. But why would God Himself actually atone for our sins, and how is Jesus perfect? Jesus is perfect because He is God and He came down from heaven.
The reason that Jesus died for our sins is because He loved us. Jesus loved (and loves) us so much that He died for our sins, and instead of worthless He makes us priceless by the power of God. Now we are God’s children, and it is all because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. That means we should worship Jesus for it, because He died for us we should worship Him. But He didn’t only just die, that would have made Him like any regular man, Jesus rose again on the third day! After He died He was buried for three days and then He rose again, and then He ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us right now.
The Israelites were going to die because of all their sins, and we were going to die because of our sins and because we didn’t have a perfect sacrifice, there wasn’t any hope for us. But that is why Jesus died for our sins on the cross, that is why He atoned for our sins perfectly. And it is because He loved (and loves) us. We should love Him and worship Him because He loved us and died for us.
Jesus sacrificed His life for our sakes, and that is why we should worship Him completely. He loved us enough to die for our sins like a sacrificial lamb, but instead of a lamb He perfectly atoned for our sins, thank you Jesus.
Do you trust in Jesus, who completely atone for our sins?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
