“Peace, peace” when there is no peace

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 13:10 which says,

“‘Because they lead my people astray, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash.”

Alright, the Lord was going to destroy the Israelites like I’ve been talking about, and the reason that the Lord is doing that is because they were saying “peace” were there wasn’t any peace. In other words they were prophesying false prophecies, and because the Lord was actually telling them that they were going to be destroyed, the Lord was not going to wait any longer to prove them wrong. So the Lord was going to destroy the Israelites because of sin.

Sin is what the Israelites had, and it is what we had. We were going to die because of our sins too, we didn’t have any peace and we were going to be destroyed just like the Israelites. We weren’t perfect and we didn’t have a perfect sacrifice. Basically we were hopeless and sinful. We couldn’t do anything about it because, by our own power, we can’t defeat the devil and his temptations. But that is why God Himself supplied the sacrifice that saved our lives, and it wasn’t an animal.

It was Jesus! Jesus Christ who is the son of God (and God Himself) and He died on the cross for us. He came down from heaven, was born of a virgin and lived a perfect life. But the most important thing is that He died on the cross so that we could go free from our sins. He died all for us. But why would God die for our sins?

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (NIV 1 John 4:10)

Jesus loved us so much that He died for us. Jesus was our atoning sacrifice. He died like an atoning lamb for our sins, and all because He loved us.

“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (NIV 1 John 2:2)

The Israelites were going to be destroyed all because of their sins, and we were also going to die because of our sins. But that is why Jesus died for our sins like an atoning sacrifice, so He gave us peace by doing that, and the reason that Jesus died for us was because He loved us! Thank you Jesus!

Are you trusting in Jesus Christ as your savior?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
