Anger of the Lord

Hi, God’s word for me today is in Ezekiel 8:17 which says,

“He said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a trivial matter for the people of Judah to do the detestable things they are doing here? Must they also fill the land with violence and continually arouse my anger? Look at them putting the branch to their nose!”

In this verse the Lord is talking to Ezekiel, and He (the Lord) had shown Ezekiel what the Israelites were doing. And the priests were even offering sacrifices to other gods in the house of God. And that was angering the Lord, also the Lord said that what they were doing was defiling the house of the Lord. And last time they angered the Lord, He wiped them out, so unless the Lord had mercy on them again that same thing is probably going to happen and all because of sin too.

And we were going to die because of our sins like the Israelites. We were sinners and because the Lord hates sin so we were going to die. But the Lord had mercy on us, He had enough mercy to send a sacrifice to atone for our sins! And that sacrifice was Jesus. Jesus was (and is) God, and He was (and is) the only perfect sacrifice. Thank you so much Jesus!

And we should accept Jesus as our savior, we can’t just say “no thanks Jesus, I think I can handle it” if we are dying in our sins. We aren’t perfect, so we can’t just handle it. So we need to trust in God.

The Israelites were defiling the house of God, and the Lord was very angry at that because He can’t stand sin. And because we were sinners, we were going to die because of our sins too, but that is why Jesus died for our sins on the cross. But that doesn’t mean we can just keep on sinning “because after all, Jesus died for us so He’ll just forgive me”,

“The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?” (NIV Romans 5:20-21 and Romans 6:1-3)

So we can’t just keep on sinning, because Christ is our example and we have died to sin, so we can’t live in it. So Jesus died for us on the cross and we should worship Him for it. And also we can’t live in our sins because we are dead to sin, and Christ is our example.

Are you trusting in Jesus as your savior?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
