Hi, God’s word for me today is in Lamentations 5:16 which says,
The crown has fallen from our head.
Woe to us, for we have sinned!
Alright, our crown had fallen from our head because of our sins. What? What is that supposed to mean? Well the Israelite’s were in captivity because of their sins. The Babylonians had captured them, and clearly you can’t rule a country when you’re in captivity. So the Israelite’s are lamenting over how they are in captivity and they think that God has forgotten them and all that. So they say “the crown had fallen from our head” and they say “woe to us, for we have sinned” funny how they didn’t think of that while they were sinning.
But this is also a picture of us, how? Well we weren’t perfect like the Israelite’s weren’t perfect. And God can’t stand sin, so we had to die, but if we were perfect we would have gone to heaven because that’s what we would have deserved. But we couldn’t find a perfect sacrifice and we weren’t perfect so, let’s just say the crown of heaven fell from our head.
But that is why Jesus died for our sins! Wait a second, who’s Jesus? Well Jesus was (and is) the son of God (and God Himself). The son of God would die for us? Yes He would and He did. Jesus actually died for our sins, it is amazing that He would do that, that He would give us His righteousness for our sins.
God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (NIV 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Jesus was and is our atoning sacrifice, thank you Jesus.
And to recap, the Israelite’s had sinned so they were taken captive by the Babylonians and “lost the crown”. And that is a picture of us because we were sinners and we were going to die because we weren’t perfect. But that is why Jesus died on the cross for our sins! Jesus came down from heaven, was born of a virgin and lived a perfect life. But more importantly Jesus died for our sins and was buried. But on the third day He rose again and ascended into heaven where He is preparing a place for us, thank you Jesus!
Are you trusting in Jesus as your savior?
Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland.
