Hi, God’s word for me today is in Jeremiah 39:17 which says,

“But I will rescue you on that day, declares the LORD; you will not be handed over to those you fear.”

This is the Lord talking to Israel through Jeremiah. Israel was being taken over by the king of Babylon and the Lord says that He is going to rescue them from those that they feared, or the Babylonians. In my last post I talked about Zedekiah the king of Judah and how he was a picture of Jesus because his friends would betray him and desert him because of the Babylonians. Here the Babylonians are invading Israel.

And now the Lord is telling the Israelites that He would rescue them from their worst fear. Which is a picture of Jesus. How? Because Jesus died for us, and He rescued us from our sins. Just like how He rescued the Israelites from their worst fear. He rescued us by dying on the cross for us. He loved us so much that He died for us,

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV John 3:16)

God loved us so much that He sent His son to rescue us from our sins by dying for us. Jesus who is the son of God (although He is also God because Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are 3 in 1) died for us on the cross, that is amazing. That the son of God would die for us. He is our savior or our rescuer, we need to accept Him as our savior.

If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your savior and you want to then pray this prayer with me (or something like it):

Dear Heavenly father, thank you for sending your son to die for me, please help me to accept you as my savior and cherish the gospel. In Jesus’ name amen.

Are you trusting in Jesus as your savior?

Grace and truth, Charity Cleveland
